A MOVEMENT THERAPY THAT BRINGS BODY & MIND TOGETHER TO ENRICH YOUR PATH OF HEALING, SELF DISCOVERY AND GROWTH
Walk & Talk sessions are similar to traditional counselling and coaching sessions except you are walking while you are talking about your challenges, goals and plans.
Walk & Talk sessions are supportive for all ages and can be modified to accommodate various states of mobility. The aim is to get our mind and body moving for some, if not all, of the session but we will always work at your pace, both physically and emotionally – we can take an easy walk, including sitting and talking along the way, or a longer, more challenging walk if preferred.
Many of my clients find walking helps them to re-establish a connection between their mind and body. They feel it brings depth and space to their sessions, helping them get 'unstuck' faster – as they literally move the old stuff out of their bodies, and breathe in fresh perspectives along with the fresh air. Clients have advised feeling more relaxed about talking, and able to access deeper realisations whilst moving in the great outdoors.

Walk & Talk sessions can be conducted in person or by phone
In person – along beautiful Southport Broadwater, Heritage Walks and Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens
By phone – anywhere – Some of my clients walk around their garden, or the block, or even their house

What are the benefits?

Research shows that rhythmic exercise, such as walking, can be conducive to the process of self-discovery. It can improve your mood and foster deeper ways of thinking.
The key benefits of combining movement with counselling are:

-
It encourages you to be more active, which is essential for sustaining mental and physical health.
-
It can help build connection between the body and the self, which is essential for achieving inner-settlement and clarity.
-
Some clients feel anxious when confronting difficult issues in a seated, face-to-face setting. Walking in parallel can support easier engagement.
-
Clients often say they feel more relaxed in the less formal surroundings and that the movement helps them get 'unstuck', 'to clear the cobwebs'. They feel that they are 'moving forward with their issues'.

What if it rains?

If it rains we can grab our raincoats and adventure out anyway, we may proceed with a face to face, Telehealth or Online session or reschedule. It is up to us on the day.
What if I see someone I know?

Walk & Talk sessions uphold the same standards of ethics and confidentially as in a traditional indoor counselling setting. If you see someone you know you can just nod, or say hello briefly and we will move on. They will not know you are in a counselling or coaching session, they will simply see you are busily engaged with someone else - possibly your trainer :

Can Walk & Talk Sessions include a meditation?

The answer is yes. If you are very anxious it can be helpful to start with 5 - 10 minutes Walking Meditation to help you settle into yourself and re-establish presence before we start talking.
